What a weekend it was! After more than a decade, our Centres Ray Cormier Kyokushin Kenbukai proudly presented our first showcase, and it was nothing short of spectacular. Held at the bustling Marché Moncton Market, the event brought our vibrant community together. The dedication and hard work of our students truly shone through, as they volunteered countless hours over the past month to prepare for this incredible event. We extend our sincere gratitude to Shihan Lee for providing the necessary mats, ensuring a safe and professional environment for all our performers.

From Katas to Breaking: A Display of Skill and Spirit

The showcase was a vibrant display of the diverse skills honed within our dojo. We were treated to precise katas, breathtaking high kicks, and insightful self-defense skits that demonstrated practical application. The anticipation in the air was palpable during the board breaking, baseball bat breaking, and even brick breaking. Each performance was a testament to the students' commitment, with every technique meticulously practiced to ensure both effectiveness and, most importantly, safety.

Tameshiwari: More Than Just a Physical Feat

A highlight of the showcase was undoubtedly the Tameshiwari, or breaking. It’s important to remember that Tameshiwari isn't just about raw power; it's a profound mental challenge as well. You might succeed one day and face a setback the next, and that's perfectly okay. The true spirit of Kyokushin lies in resilience, in not getting discouraged and embracing the opportunity to try again.

A powerful example of this spirit was seen with three of our dedicated ladies during the baseball bat breaking. They had worked tirelessly on their technique, were ready, and confident in their success. Yet, the bat remained unbroken. While it might have been disappointing in the moment, their journey isn't over. They'll have the chance to review with Shihan, understand what happened, and refine their approach so they can conquer that bat next time. Their determination is truly inspiring!

A Proud Shihan Ray and Team Effort

It was a special moment to see Shihan watching proudly from the crowd, a testament to the growth and leadership within our dojo. The entire event was seamlessly led by our dedicated Section Team Captains and expertly emceed by Senpai Marji, Shihan’s wife, whose calm presence and clear announcements kept everything running smoothly. The showcase was truly a collaborative effort, demonstrating the strong community spirit within Centres Ray Cormier Kyokushin Kenbukai.

Looking Ahead: Back to Training!

Now that the exhilarating showcase is behind us, it's time to shift our focus back to intense training! We'll be working hard to refine existing skills, learn new techniques, and master new katas before the summer break. The energy from the showcase will undoubtedly fuel our dedication in the weeks to come.

Osu!
