The Costa Rican adventure has drawn to a close. Yesterday, under the warm Central American sun, our team finally had a moment to breathe, to relax by the pool, to let go of the karate protocol and the business of competition. It was a well-deserved day of unwinding after an intense and transformative experience.
As the sun sets on this beautiful adventure, we reflect not just on the stunning scenery and the thrill of competition, but on the profound personal growth each team member has experienced. Their Kyokushin spirit, already strong, has emerged even more resilient, forged in the fires of challenge and discovery. For many, this trip marked their first journey beyond the borders of Canada, a leap into the unknown that broadened their horizons in more ways than one.
This journey wouldn't have been possible without the incredible support system that surrounded our athletes. We extend our deepest gratitude to the Kyokushin Kenbukai Costa Rican Organization and Sensei Silvia for their gracious hospitality, creating an environment where bonds of friendship and camaraderie flourished. The connections forged in Costa Rica, between teammates and with our hosts, are a testament to the unifying power of Kyokushin.
Before we officially close this chapter, we must acknowledge the village that helped make this dream a reality. To the families and friends who tirelessly contributed to fundraising efforts, thank you. Your generosity fueled this adventure. To the fellow karatekas who shared training and offered encouragement, your support strengthened our team. To the dedicated team of instructors, your guidance honed their skills and prepared them for the challenge. A special thank you to Sensei Jacques for hosting the elite training sessions that pushed our athletes to their limits.
And finally, a heartfelt thank you to Shihan Ray Cormier, our head instructor and North American Branch Chief. Adhering to the old school principles of Kyokushin, Shihan Ray instills in us the values that forge resilience, courage, respect, and so much more. His unwavering vision and dedication to the Kyokushin path have guided us all on this incredible Kenbukai journey. He inspires us to strive for excellence, both in and out of the dojo.
As our team makes their way back home, we wish them a safe and smooth journey. We eagerly await their return, ready to hear their stories and celebrate their achievements. Welcome home, team. Your journey has just begun.
