Today marks an extraordinary milestone in the world of Kyokushin Karate! Forty years ago, Shihan Ray Cormier embarked on a journey that has touched the lives of thousands, opening the doors to the Centres Ray Cormier Kyokushin.

Shihan Ray's path began under the guidance of Grand Master Ron Cormier, and his commitment only deepened under the mentorship of Shihan André Gilbert. His profound love for Kyokushin is not just a passion; it's a vibrant force that has shaped a legacy. Think about it, thousands of students have walked through his dojo doors, many of whom have achieved the esteemed rank of black belt. And remarkably, under his tutelage, three World Champions have risen! Furthermore, Shihan Ray holds the esteemed position of North American Branch Chief for Kyokushin Kenbukai, demonstrating his leadership and influence within the broader Kyokushin community.

It's often said that life's responsibilities can lead us to slow down. Careers, marriage, and family, these are significant milestones that can sometimes shift our focus. Yet, Shihan Ray has defied this notion with remarkable energy. Alongside his loving wife, Senpai Marji, he navigated the demands of full-time jobs, raised two daughters, and now embraces the joys of being a grandparent. But through it all, his dedication to Kyokushin has remained a constant, unwavering flame.

What's truly remarkable about Shihan Ray, beyond his incredible achievements, is his unwavering humility. He consistently shines the spotlight on his students, celebrating their successes and fostering their growth. His genuine pride in their accomplishments is evident to all, creating a supportive and encouraging environment within his dojo. This extends to the very heart of his school, where a powerful sense of community thrives. Stepping across the threshold of Shihan Ray's dojo means being welcomed into a family. No one is left behind or excluded; everyone is embraced and supported on their individual journey. His significant contributions to the sport were further recognized in 2023, when he was proudly inducted into the Moncton Sports Hall of Fame as a Builder for Kyokushin Karate

Now, just weeks away from his 68th birthday, Shihan Ray's commitment to his school, his students, and the very essence of Kyokushin is stronger than ever. His mind, we hear, is a whirlwind of exciting projects and future aspirations, a testament to his boundless energy and forward-thinking spirit.

Shihan Ray, today, we pause to express our deepest gratitude for your unwavering dedication and profound commitment. You have not just taught us karate; you have instilled in us discipline, respect, and the relentless pursuit of excellence. Your impact extends far beyond the dojo, shaping us into better individuals. Your humility, focus on your students, the incredible family you've built within your school, your significant role as the North American Branch Chief for Kyokushin Kenbukai, and your well-deserved recognition in the Moncton Sports Hall of Fame make you an even more exceptional leader and mentor.

From the bottom of our hearts, we offer a humble thank you. Domo Arigato Gosai Masu! We truly hope to continue learning and growing under your inspiring guidance for many more years to come. Osu!
