And just like that, the dojo doors have (almost!) closed for summer break! While we still have two more outdoor classes at Centennial Park next week, last night marked our final session in the dojo for the season. What a year it has been!

We often talk about how challenging karate classes can be, but today, let's shine a spotlight on our incredible kids' class. The growth we've seen from September until now is nothing short of amazing! Every single child has improved in one or more areas. Whether it was learning to stand still and listen to directions, executing a perfectly powerful mae geri (front kick), or boosting their cardio, each of them discovered a powerful truth: they have what it takes to succeed! They've learned that with belief and hard work, anything is possible. We are incredibly proud of every single one of them and can't wait to see their smiling faces back in September.

Now, let's talk about our dedicated adults and advanced class. They truly deserve a well-earned summer break! Since January 2024, it's been non-stop training and fundraising. They've tackled the Canadian Championships in Montreal, the North American Championship right here in Dieppe, and even the Wild Nature International Cup in Costa Rica. In between all those intense competitions, they also faced rigorous gradings, and we all know how strenuous Shihan Ray's gradings can be!

But through all that hard work, everyone grew. We witnessed both juniors and adults gain a newfound self-confidence they didn't have before. We also saw this group of people grow closer, with the bonds of our karate family truly solidifying. The Kyokushin spirit is incredibly strong within the members of our dojo.

This sense of community and family isn't just confined to the dojo walls either. We saw it in action with a record number of people who showed up to help with the gathering of firewood for Grand Master Ron Cormier. That incredible display of teamwork and support truly embodies the spirit of our Kyokushin Kenbukai family!

Finally, a huge thank you to everyone who made this year so special! To our incredible team of instructors, your dedication and passion are truly inspiring. To all the karatekas, your hard work and commitment are what make our dojo a vibrant and supportive place. And to all the parents, thank you for your unwavering support, for bringing your children to class, and for being such an integral part of our karate family.

Now, it's time to relax and enjoy the summer. Get out there, have some fun, and recharge!

Osu!
